2. Meetings
We meet on the first and third Wednesday of each month from September to June at Acadia Hall (650 Sackville Dr). Doors open at 6:30 PM, and meetings start at 7:00 PM. We also offer a hybrid Zoom option
Absolutely! We welcome guests to attend one meeting for free to see what we’re all about. Want to check us out before joining? Reach out to our fantastic Membership Coordinator at membership@sackvillephotoclub.com to arrange a guest pass for an upcoming meeting — we’d love to have you!
Our meetings are packed with inspiration and learning! You’ll enjoy guest speakers covering all kinds of photographic topics, member-led presentations like “How I Got the Shot” and captivating photo essays. We also feature monthly theme showcases, hands-on tech talks, practical how-to sessions, and all the latest club news and updates.
A Member Showcase is a relaxed and informal event where Sackville Photography Club members have the chance to share their work with fellow members—and sometimes the public. These photos are centered around a specific theme each month and showcased to the membership using a video slideshow. It’s not a competition—just a fun and supportive way to celebrate the talent in our club, exchange ideas, get inspired, and connect with the community.
A Tech Talk is an educational session focused on the technical side of photography. These talks cover specific topics like camera settings, lighting techniques, editing software, gear comparisons, or workflow tips. They’re designed to help members build confidence with their equipment and improve their skills—whether you’re just learning the ropes or looking to master more advanced techniques. Tech Talks are usually led by experienced members or guest speakers and are a great way to deepen your understanding of photography in a friendly, accessible format.
We invite guest speakers from across Canada who bring a wealth of knowledge, skill, and creativity. Our goal is to feature photographers with diverse expertise who can both inspire and educate our members on a wide range of photographic topics.
3. Events
We offer a vibrant lineup of field trips, photo walks, contests, hands-on workshops, creative challenges, Edit My Raw, and themed projects — all designed to help you sharpen your skills, expand your portfolio, and connect with fellow photography enthusiasts in a fun and supportive environment
“Edit My RAW” is one of our most fun and eye-opening events of the year—and it’s all about perspective, creativity, and a little photo magic!
Here’s how it works: Members sign up and submit one unedited RAW file. In return, you’ll get five (or more) unedited images from fellow members—including your own—and then it’s time to get creative. You’ll edit each one in your own unique style, no rules, no pressure—just you, your vision, and a few sliders in Lightroom.
During the meeting, we showcase everyone’s edits alongside the original RAW files to see how differently each moment can be brought to life. It’s a night full of “aha!” moments, shared inspiration, and friendly surprises. No critiques, no names—just an anonymous, judgement-free zone where your creativity can truly develop.
All skill levels are welcome—whether you’re still learning to adjust your white balance or already dodging and burning like a pro. So grab your RAWs, sharpen your tools, and get ready for a night that proves no two photographers see the world the same way!
4. Field Trips
A Club Field Trip is a fun and informal outing where members meet at a specific location to explore and photograph whatever catches their eye. It’s a great chance to practice new techniques, discover fresh inspiration, and enjoy photography in a social setting. Sometimes, we invite models to join us for portrait or fashion-themed shoots. These trips offer a supportive environment where members can collaborate, share ideas, and get creative input or guidance from one another.
Yes, field trips are one of the many perks of being a Sackville Photography Club member. While we’d love to say “cheese!” with everyone, these outings are reserved for registered members to ensure a safe, organized, and well-focused experience.
Joining is easy, and you’ll gain access to a full season of meetings, photo challenges, contests, and field trips that will help you develop your skills and connect with fellow shutterbugs. So don’t stay out of the frame—snap up a membership and come explore with us!
Sometimes! While most Sackville Photography Club field trips are free to attend, there may occasionally be costs depending on the location or activity.
For example, if we’re visiting a venue with an entrance fee, booking a studio, or working with a model, there might be a small cost to cover those expenses. We always do our best to keep things affordable and will let you know in advance if there’s a fee involved—no surprise charges hiding in the shadows!
Think of it as a small investment in big photo ops!
5. Mentoring
Mentoring Session is a relaxed, no-pressure opportunity for members to learn from one another. Experienced photographers share their knowledge, tips, and techniques with those who are new to photography or looking to develop a specific skill. It’s a fun, supportive environment focused on learning, growing, and creating together—whether you’re just starting out or trying something new behind the lens.
Yes, mentoring sessions are one of the many benefits of being a Sackville Photography Club member. These one-on-one or small group sessions are designed to help members sharpen their skills, get feedback, and feel more confident behind the lens.
Whether you’re learning how to shoot in manual mode or just wondering which end of the camera to point at your subject (hey, we’ve all been there), our mentors are here to help.
So why blur the lines? Join the club, get in focus, and start your journey with a community that’s always ready to support you—one shutter click at a time!
It depends! Most mentoring sessions through the Sackville Photography Club are free and included with your membership. However, if a session involves special elements—like renting a venue, hiring a model, or accessing studio lighting—there may be a small fee to help cover those costs.
We’ll always give you a heads-up beforehand, so you’re never caught off guard (unlike that squirrel in your last photo).
No pressure, no surprises—just helpful guidance, creative growth, and a few laughs along the way.
