This week we will be hosting our meeting as in person only to better facilitate our guest speaker. Kayla MacDonald will be joining us to provide a live in person demonstration on newborn photography.
Kayla would you like to introduce yourself?
“Hey there, lovely souls! I’m Kayla, a passionate photographer with an unwavering love for freezing life’s most precious moments in time. But that’s not all there is to me. I’m also a proud mother, and this is where my journey as a photographer truly blossomed.
My days are a beautifully chaotic blend of motherhood and photography. I’m on a mission to find the magic in the mundane, whether it’s the twinkle in my child’s eye or the soft, golden light of a sunset. Balancing motherhood with a camera in hand isn’t always easy, but it’s incredibly rewarding.
Through my lens, I celebrate the joys of childhood, the tenderness of family, and the extraordinary love that fills our everyday lives. Just a friendly reminder that our monthly showcase theme for October is “Mirror, Mirror – reflections”. So any photos that use reflections are welcome.
Submissions are due this Sunday October 15th at 11:59pm.
• Submit up to 5 images for each monthly theme
- Sizing:
- Landscape Orientation – 1920 pixels on the long side
- Portrait Orientation 1080 pixels on the long side

- Label your image(s) = Your Name & Image Number e.g. J Doe 1, J Doe 2, etc….

Our November monthly theme will be “Creative – Rule breaking and layering”. November month showcase photos will be due Sunday November 12th at 11:59pm.
Our Annual Photo Exhibition is October 20-22. Martyn has asked me to pass along the following information:
Scheduled exhibition dates are Fri., Oct 20 – Sun., Oct 22.
Fri., Oct 20: 12:00 – 5:00 with exhibition setup to be completed from 12:00 – 1:00 and exhibition opening to the public at 1:00
Sat., Oct 21: 10:00 – 5:00 with exhibition open to the public
Sun., Oct 22: 12:00 – 5:00 with exhibition open to the public from 12:00 – 4:30 and take down from 4:30 – 5:00
Printed photo submissions.
Photos can be submitted in 8 X 10 portrait or landscape format and 10 X 12 portrait or landscape format – no borders.
Members must submit printed photos in person at the meetings in Acadia Hall on Sep 20, Oct 04 & 18. Photos are to be submitted in an envelope with the members name printed on the exterior. Each photo should have a tag appended with the theme/name. Don’t forget our club members get a discount
A total of two per member. In order to make the exhibition viable, a total of 80 photographs are required.
Digital JPEG images.
A total of 5 per member with a target of 250 – 300 images
Volunteers will be needed as follows:
Exhibition setup on Fri., Oct 20: 6 volunteers to assemble the frames, hang the curtains and put the photos up
Jamie Somers will set up the digital slide show
Exhibition:
Fri., Oct 20: 1:00 – 3:00 pm: 2 volunteers
3:00 – 5:00 pm: 2 volunteers
Sat., Oct 21: 10:30 – 12:30 pm: 2 volunteers
12:30 – 2:30 pm: 2 volunteers
2:30 – 5:00 pm: 2 volunteers
Sun., Oct 22: 12:00 – 2:30 pm: 2 volunteers
2:30 – 4:30 pm: 2 volunteers
4:30 – 5:00 pm: Exhibition take down. All persons on site
Members who wish to volunteer can notify me in person at the meetings on Sep 20 & Oct 04.
