SUMMARY:Field Trip - Dartmouth Bridge Walk
DESCRIPTION:Grab your camera\, lace up your shoes\, and join us for a little photographic adventure! \nFor this SPC field trip\, we’ll start on the Dartmouth side of the Macdonald Bridge and make our way across the harbour on foot. Along the way\, there will be plenty of opportunities to photograph the bridge\, Halifax Harbour\, the city skyline\, architecture\, boats\, and all the little details that tend to get overlooked when we’re busy trying to get somewhere. \nOnce we make it across\, we’ll continue through Dartmouth Commons and make our way to Alderney Landing\, where we’ll hop aboard the ferry and enjoy a completely different perspective of the harbour as we make our way back across. \nThis is a great opportunity to get out with fellow SPC members\, explore some familiar places from a different perspective\, and—most importantly—make some photographs along the way. You don’t need to be an expert\, and there’s no particular type of photography you need to shoot. Bring the camera you enjoy using and photograph whatever catches your eye. \nThere will be bridges. There will be boats. There will be views. There will probably be someone stopping every 30 seconds because “Wait! Look at that light!” And\, of course\, there will be photography. \nCome for the walk\, stay for the photographs\, and try not to make us wait while you photograph the same seagull for 15 minutes. \nThis field trip is open exclusively to current members of the Sackville Photography Club.

SUMMARY:SPC Meeting September 16th 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Art of Constructive Feedback\n\nEver looked at someone’s photo and thought\, “Hmm… I have some thoughts\,” only to realize that saying them out loud might get you escorted from the building? Welcome to The Art of Constructive Feedback! \nThis month\, we’re talking about how to give and receive feedback that is honest\, helpful\, respectful—and doesn’t require a witness protection program. We’ll explore how to look at a photograph\, explain what’s working\, suggest what might make it stronger\, and most importantly\, do it in a way that helps everyone grow. \nWhether you’re brand new to photography or have enough experience to know exactly which button you probably pressed by accident\, you’re welcome here. There are no experts sitting on Mount Photography judging the rest of us. We’re photographers learning from photographers. \nSo bring your curiosity\, your opinions\, and your thickest skin—but leave the pitchforks at home. This is a safe\, supportive space to learn\, share\, laugh\, and become better photographers together. \nThis meeting is open to members of the Sackville Photography Club. If you’re not a member but would like to join us as a guest and see what we’re all about\, we’d love to have you! Just email membership@sackvillephotoclub.com and ask about being our guest for the evening.

SUMMARY:Lens & Learn — A Friendly Photo Review Session
DESCRIPTION:Ever wonder what someone else sees when they look at your photograph? \nLens & Learn is a relaxed\, friendly\, and educational virtual session where we come together to look at photographs\, share ideas\, and learn from one another. \nSPC members can submit jpeg images ahead of the session.  During the session\, we’ll look at the images together and offer friendly\, constructive feedback designed to help us understand what works\, what might be improved\, and why. \nThere are no bad photographs and no wrong answers. Photography is subjective\, and the goal isn’t to judge the photographer or tell someone that their photograph is “wrong.” Instead\, we’ll explore different ways of seeing an image\, discuss creative choices\, and share suggestions that may help you approach your next photograph differently. \nSubmissions will be presented anonymously\, so the focus stays on the photograph rather than who took it. \nWhether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or you’ve been photographing for decades\, Lens & Learn is for everyone. You don’t need to be an expert\, and you don’t need to have a “perfect” photograph to participate. \nCome ready to share\, learn\, ask questions\, and—most importantly—help each other grow as photographers. \nSubmit your images to: mentoring@sackvillephotoclub.com \nLens & Learn is a members-only SPC program\, available to current Sackville Photography Club members. This helps us create a comfortable space where members can share their work\, ask questions\, and learn from one another in a familiar and supportive environment. If you’re not currently a member but would like to take part\, we’d love to have you join the club and become part of the SPC community!
